Every year around 450 people die from drowning; the majority of these are at Inland sites with around 40 being in the home. Although it is not always possible to prevent these from happening, a little lifesaving knowledge could seriously increase the casualty’s chances of survival.

The skills we teach at SLSC are not only designed around preventing drownings but can help you in many other situations such as Heart Attacks, Choking, Bleeding, Shock and Hypothermia, including how to perform Rescue Breathing and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation).

The common misconception is that you have to be able to swim to attend our club. This is not the case. We are more than happy to accept any individual for our land based Life Support courses.

We don’t expect you to obtain jobs as professional lifesavers but a small amount of knowledge really could save somebody’s life.

So whether you are 8 or 108 come along to SLSC at Oaklands Community Pool and learn more.

Remember, this is also a great way to KEEP FIT, HAVE FUN and GAIN NATIONAL AWARDS all at the same time!!
